Summer brings so many joys -holidays, warm weather and picnics in the park – it also means that the gorgeous vibrant colours of lipsticks and nail varnish can be re-discovered (and if that’s not a reason to love summer then I don’t know what is!). I’ve rounded up my favourite summer products to show you…
Clinque Chubby Stick Lip Balm in ’06 woppin’ watermelon’
This is my new love. Let me first say that this was a sample size (although it’s a MASSIVE sample size) and I’m not sure if I could bare to actually part £17 for the full size one – in fact I know I couldn’t. This balm is extremely natural giving a very light pink to the lips with the selling point obviously being how moisturising it is. If you have £17 to spend on a lip balm then this is the one for you. This is perfect for summer and ideal for on holiday as it’s so much more practical than lipstick.
Soap and Glory Lip and Cheek Stain
Another lip product here (wow half of this post is about lip products..oops). This is much more of an affordable purchase (well, in my opinion) at £9. Okay, okay that doesn’t sound that cheap for a lip product but I swear this will last a good 2 years or so – should lip products be kept that long? I don’t even know? This is the best everyday type product – it’s easy to apply and perfect for a lighter lip (and did I mention cheek?) product for the summer.
The Body Shop Colour Crush Shine Lipstick in ‘fuchsia flirt’
Okay, this really is the last lip product I’ll be talking about…promise! This is a sheer bright pink lipstick which is perfect for the summer months as it gives a pop of colour without being high maintenance. The Body Shop’s lipstick formulas are all gorgeous and smooth not only looking great but feeling fab too – I’ll definitely be using this a lot when I’m on holiday!
Eyeko Skinny Liquid Black Eyeliner
I suppose this isn’t a summer specific beauty item but I’ve been loving this eyeliner so much I just had to put it in! What makes it so great is the fine tip which is very precise and therefore easy to apply. The formula is also good and you can definitely get a solid black line from it but what I like more than anything is how easy it is to correct a mistake using a cotton bud dipped in water. To make the eyeliner even more long lasting I’ve been applying a liquid eyeliner from Models Own over the top.
Models Own Nail Varnish in ‘red alert’
This really isn’t a typical nail varnish colour for summer. Red is an all round winner for me though, I can paint it on my nails and be guaranteed that it’ll go with practically every outfit I wear. The Models Own formula is pretty good, but if you’re going to go out and buy a new nail varnish then I’d definitely recommend the Barry M Gelly range (I have my eyes on the colour ‘kiwi’).
These have been my favourite beauty products for summer – I’d love to know what yours are?! (it gives me a great excuse to go and buy a few more items to try!).
